Philippine Participation in CIIE 2024

FOODPhilippines, the country's collective food promotions program, makes a follow-up participation this year in the world's biggest and only import-themed trade fair. Organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the Philippine participation features a trade delegation of 16 food exhibitors in the 7th China International Import Expo. Building on the significant rise in export sales year after year, the country's food promotions banner zeroes in on functional and nutritious food products, and durian, among its many offerings.

Source the best durian from the Philippines with love

The country's best-tasting durian better known as golden Puyat takes front and center in the 7th edition of China International Import Expo. A seedling fusion of varieties from Thailand and the Philippines, Puyat is grown around the majestic foothills of Mount Apo, the tallest mountain south of the Philippines. The tropical fruit earmarked for export owes its creamy texture and custard-like flavor to the nutrient-rich volcanic soil and unique climate of the region. It boasts a pear shape, browner husk, and flesh with a more vibrant gold-yellow color, setting it apart from other varieties sourced from neighboring countries.

The previous edition of the world's largest import-themed trade show saw a dedicated focus on durian and was met with enthusiasm on the part of Chinese consumers. This warm reception was widely celebrated and supported especially by small farmers in the Philippines who had benefited from the previous durian exports. Capitalizing on the growing popularity of Puyat, FOODPhilippines continues to bring in the most sought after durian in the China market this year.
